Gymkhana Qualifying Changes:
Okay, there are 8 events in gymkhana and we have some competitors who do not like doing the last three events. It is not the intent of the WNHA to force a rider, member or non-member, to do classes they may not feel comfortable in, i.e., jumping as in Scurry or Scud-A-Hoe. So, the Board came up with the "choice option" for our competitors. Remember, outside of your 5, the other 3 are your choices and are not madatory. But, if YOU choose to ride in any of the other 3, you will qualify for a year end award. This include Leadliners too. However, it excludes jackpot and Novice.
****Applies to horse/competitor combination. All WNHA Rules apply. Please see the WNHA Rule Book and the WNHA Awards Policy for more information. All classes, points or otherwise, must be ridden at least 3 times and at 3 dated events to qualify for Year End Awards. All WNHA Rules will be enforced**** In order to qualify in YOUR age division, you choose 5 of the 8 classes, annotation will be made on your gymkhana entry form, found on the Gymkhana section. Those 5 WILL remain your qualifying classes for your age year end awards. Please choose wisely, as there will be no changing; if you decided to change, your points will not carry forward with your change.
If, YOU, choose to do any of the other 3; 1, 2, or all 3, and you ride them at least 3 times and in 3 WNHA dated events, you will qualify for a year end award.
If, YOU, choose to do all 8 of the events, remember, only 5 are your qualifying age year end; you will receive a gymkhana versatility award for doing all 8.
Age Group change:
A change was done in the Age Group Division; we heard that our members wanted to have more riders in their age classes, therefore, the age division was changed. The Gymkhana Age Division is now Lead Line, 9 & Under, 10-13, 14-17 and 18 & Over. We are hoping that with the above changes, our members will have more competitors in their specific age classes, giving a much need and healthy boost of competition....especially those who wish to strive to their best! All WNHA Rules apply. Please see the WNHA Rule Book, General Rules for more information.
Dress Code: A change has been made in the WNHA Gymkhana Dress Code. Therefore, please note the following dress code change:
- ATTIRE: Competitors must wear Western attire. Western attire is boots, long pants, belt (if pants have belt loops), western button down shirt with collar; (shirt must be tucked in so belt and buckle can be seen), or long sleeved jacket with shirt and collar. Western style shirts may be long, short or sleeveless; however, the western shirt must be a button down with collar. All approved shirts will be tucked in so belt and buckle (if pants have belt loops) can be seen. However, jeans, boots and belt (if pants have belt loops) are mandatory. Improperly dressed Competitor will not be allowed into arena. No mandatory hats or helmets, however competitors may wear western hat, ball cap, helmet or no hat. If discrepancy is found in dress code, Competitor will not be allowed to run until properly attired.
-
a. If Competitor rides with a helmet, they will use ASTM/SEI helmet. Helmets at the discretion of the Competitor, Parent, or Guardian.
Additional Changes:
The WNHA has updated the Rule Book to specifically clarify certain areas. Please, it is very important for all our Exhibitors and Competitors to familiarize themselves with the WNHA Rules. The WNHA staff will enforce these rules for everyone who events with the WNHA and Safety is a MUST and comes FIRST! Please go to the WNHA Rule Book to download a copy of the current rules of the WNHA. Sportsmanship will be expected of all those who event and includes those who are guests, family, friends, and spectators who are there to enjoy a nice Saturday afternoon with their family or friends who enjoy showing or eventing with their horses.
